The body doesn't lie! It was this sentence from the first page of a Rolfing Book which I read many years ago in a Berlin bookstore that intrigued me the most. "Wow"!!! The body - telling the truth! I needed to find her after decades of confusion! The second "Wow" followed few pages later: A story about a 76 year old lady whose body still changed during bodywork treatments. For me it implied: It's never too late... to correct the direction of an earlier development to find the innate wisdom of the body. It also implied that the body is made out of pliable 'material' and aging is not a one-way route towards stiffness and disease. Those two sentences - the body doesn't lie and it's never too late to change - became the two pillars for my decision to become a bodyworker. After 14 years of practicing bodywork I still find both to be true. |
