5 Minute Oasis for your Shoulder

Bring yourself into a comfortable position and your mind into a friendly attentiveness towards the inner processes in your body. Even though it's only a 5 Minute exercise, it's time just for you, so take a moment to detach from the activity you have been doing: You may just close your eyes and take a deep breath.

Step 1

Step 1

You are pacing what your shoulders often do anyhow: pulling up
This time you exaggerate completely, pulling them up to the ears, holding tight, very tight, even holding your breath until you feel you can't go any further and then – with a sigh - let all the weight suddenly drop.
Repeat several times.

Step 2

Bring one bent arm up over your head. With the hand of the other pull it gently backward. Let the breath wave flow into the opening joint. Let the neck, the chin and the eyes be relaxed.
Switch sides.

Step 3

Step 3

With your fingers slightly curved you are drumming the upper part of the trapezius to waken it up. Remember: You are the do-er and the receiver as well!! You may switch the focus from one to the other - which one is easier for you?
Switch sides.

Step 4

Place one elbow above the other and relax into the twist. Slowly, pull the elbows away from your chest to open the area between your shoulder blades even more. Let the breath be calm, full and deep.
Switch sides

Step 5

Step 5

This is for ambitious practitioners!
Get into the position as shown in the picture. Stay in it for a while and let the breath do the work for you.

Congratulations for taking the time to take care of yourself!
